Govt to provide some UAH 4 mln for local art startups

 The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine would finance eight cultural startups in small towns for the sum starting from UAH 500,000 each, the press service of the government has reported.

"The expert board of the Culture Ministry selected eight projects for the introduction of pilot cultural startups related to cultural heritage," the press service said.

The winners of the contest are Trostianets in Sumy region (the creation of the cultural brand of the town), Tulchyn in Vinnytsia region (the Leontovych Art Quarter), Ostroh in Rivne region (the Cultural Barbakan), Slavutych in Kyiv region (the International Cinema and Urban Planning Festival – 86), Hadiach in Poltava region (the Festival of Young Theatres), Chuhuyiv in Kharkiv region (the Repin Plein-Air, Sharivka in Kharkiv region (the Cultural Hackathon) and Vylkove territorial community in Odesa region (the Dunaiski Hostyny food festival).

The projects of the winners envisage hosting of events, creation or development of cultural facilities in the towns.

According to a posting on the website of the Culture Ministry, the financing for the startups will be provided under the Small Towns – Large Impressions project. The ministry would also help to design the concepts of the startups and accompany them during their implementation. The obligatory condition of the project is its co-financing by local authorities.
