Tigipko wants to increase his agriholding's land bank by 20,000-30,000 ha

TAS Agro, the agricultural holding of TAS Group, has formed a land bank of over 86,000 hectares and is ready to increase it by 20,000-30,000 hectares, group founder and owner Sergiy Tigipko has said.

"We plan in future to develop two directions [grain and energy crops], especially grain, which is now currently the most efficient and cost-effective. We would like to acquire another 20,000-30,000 hectares of land for this purpose, and then will think about processing," he said in an interview with the Business weekly.

Tigipko said TAS Agro mainly specializes in cultivation of four crops: wheat, sunflower, soybeans and corn, while its own elevator facilities allow storing more than 250,000 tonnes of products.

The businessman noted the agricultural holding was the first in Ukraine that imported energy willow and poplar to the country and has been harvesting on 1,850 ha for two years.
