ZTR first to supply equipment to South Africa in 2017

Public joint-stock company Zaporizhtransformator (ZTR), a large global manufacturer of transformer equipment, has signed a contract to supply a shunt reactor to South Africa, the company’s press service has reported.

The reactor will be shipped for Oval substation and used in the power grids of state-run company Eskom.

"This is a first order for South Africa received by our enterprise," the press service said, adding that South Africa has become the 88th country where ZTR sells its products.

The reactor will be shipped to the customer in April 2017.

It took around two years to work and receive the order. In 2014, the company held the technical seminar on the advantages of using controlled shunt reactors in the Eskom's power grids. The customer showed interest in the equipment.

ZTR jointly with its partner on the South African market - Afritek PTY LTD – worked with the end consumer and received consent to implement a pilot project and install one reactor in the Eskom's power grids to work out as effective as possible application of the solution.

ZTR will monitor the assembly of the reactor and startup works.

ZTR belongs to Energy Standard Group of businessman Konstantin Grigorishin. It produces power oil transformers, electrical reactors, and controlled shunt reactors.
