PM advocates creation of national committee for industry restoration

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman believes that the national committee for industry restoration should be created.

"We will create the national committee for Ukrainian industry restoration. I recently met metallurgists. They have a lot of problems that we could solve in the government and parliament. The settling of these problems would give the economic growth we are speaking about. We can speak with other economic sectors and we will see that our professional approach would make them competitive on the domestic and foreign markets," the prime minister said in parliament on Wednesday.

He said that the export-credit (insurance) agency should be created.

"We need to present our products abroad better. I think that the creation of the export-credit, export-insurance agency is the issue to settle today. I support this initiative with pleasure. We will create the agency that would help us to become effective on international markets and guarantee competition," he said.

As reported, the Ukrainian government late December 2015 decided to create the export-credit agency. Ukreximbank was to act as the founder of the agency.

Late April 2016 Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade and Trade Representative of Ukraine Natalia Mykolska said that the export-insurance agency could be created in 2017 if the financing of the project were included in the draft national budget. She said that from the moment of creation of the export-insurance agency until the provision of first service from six to nine months will pass.

She said that if there were funds the export-insurance agency could be turned into an export-credit agency. She said that UAH 250-300 million is required for this and the sum could be injected in two tranches during two years.
