Bogdan Corporation and Belarusian MAZ agree to make trucks in Cherkasy
Bogdan Corporation, one of the leading Ukrainian automakers, has signed an agreement with Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ, Belarus) on production of trucks using Belarusian and Ukrainian components at the plant in Cherkasy.
According to a press release from Bogdan Corporation, in the framework of the contract it is planned to produce trucks under the Bogdan brand.
Vehicles at the facilities of Bogdan will be produced at a full cycle of assembly: assembly of chassis, welding, painting, installation of the loading platform. It is planned in future to localize production. In particular, Kremenchug Wheel Plant, Rosava tire manufacturer (Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region), ISTA manufacturer of accumulators (Dnipropetrovsk) could be involved in making trucks.
The press service of Bogdan did not specify the planned volume of motor vehicle production, noting that this would depend on the market demand.
According to director of the plant Vladyslav Sopyta, dual-use vehicles produced in Cherkasy could be used by both civilian and security forces in the ATO zone.
The corporation noted this is not the first example of Bogdan's cooperation with MAZ. The companies previously had a number of joint projects.
