Govt to prolong program on compensating 20% of cost of non-gas boilers – PM

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to prolong the program under which 20% of credit taken to install boilers consuming alternative fuel is compensated to the public from the national budget.

"You go to Oschadbank, take credit, and 20% of the cost of the boiler is compensated by the state," Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said on 1+1 television late on Sunday.

He said that it is planned to expand compensating credits taken to insulate houses, install new windows and improve the energy performance of buildings.

"Compensation from the national budget will be from 30% to 40% of the cost of materials for insulation and modernization," he said.

Yatseniuk said that Germany will provide a EUR 500 million long-term loan to Ukraine, EUR 300 million of which will be allocated to the insulation of houses and the modernization of Ukrainian heating supply systems.
