Price of gas imported in Jan and published by economy ministry unrepresentative, says Naftogaz

The average customs cost of gas imported by Ukraine in January 2014 of $358.70 per thousand cubic meters published by the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine is not representative, business development director at national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy Yuriy Vitrenko has said.

"What should we explain? The figures are only for those importers who import gas for own needs. The share of these importers is small, and the prices are unrepresentative," he wrote on his Facebook page.

Vitrenko said that the figure presented by the ministry is higher than the price of gas bought by Naftogaz Ukrainy in Russia and Europe.

The report of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of January 18 with the average customs cost of gas in January is not on the ministry's website anymore.

In early February official spokesperson of Russia's Gazprom Sergei Kupriyanov said that the contract price of gas in the first quarter of 2015 will be $329 per 1,000 cubic meters for Naftogaz Ukrainy. He said that the real price will be another, as the calorie power and other technical factors will be taken into account.
