Ukrainian farmers harvest 50.4 mln tonnes of grains, oilseeds

Farmers across all regions of Ukraine have harvested 50.4 million tonnes of the new crop from 14.2 million hectares as of September 27, compared to 44.5 million tonnes from 12.5 million hectares a week earlier.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, 34.3 million tonnes of grains and legumes, 13.6 million tonnes of oilseeds, and 2.5 million tonnes of sugar beets have been collected.
The ministry clarified that the wheat harvest is complete, with 22.32 million tonnes collected from 4.9 million hectares at a yield of 4.24 tonnes per ha. Barley harvest amounted to 5.5 million tonnes from 1.41 million hectares, yielding 3.92 tonnes per ha, and peas yielded 465,300 tonnes from 212,200 hectares at 2.19 tonnes per ha.
Corn harvesting is ongoing, with 4.72 million tonnes gathered from 514,000 hectares, buckwheat – 115,500 tonnes from 78,300 hectares, and millet – 147,750 tonnes from 77,700 hectares.
As for oilseeds, 3.457 million tonnes of rapeseed, 3.5 million tonnes of soybeans, and 6.659 million tonnes of sunflower have been harvested so far.
Ukraine has also harvested 2.459 million tonnes of sugar beets from 51,800 hectares, which is 20% of the planned area.
Leading regions in grain harvesting include Odesa, Poltava, and Dnipropetrovsk, while Khmelnytsky, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Ternopil lead in yield.
