Sanctioned Lukoil's oil in transit to Europe replaced by other owners' oil – Naftogaz head

The current transit of Russian oil to the European Union through Ukraine, undoubtedly, takes into account the National Security and Defense Council's sanctions against the Russian company Lukoil. However, its volume remains unchanged, indicating that the sanctioned company's oil has been replaced by oil from other owners, Board Chairman of NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy Oleksiy Chernyshov has said.

"Lukoil is under sanctions, and it means that Ukrtransnafta is not transporting its oil. However, the transit volumes in July, after the sanctions were applied, remain unchanged. This indicates that there is no Lukoil oil, but there is oil from other owners," he told Interfax-Ukraine in the sidelines of the NV discussion of energy challenges in Ukraine on Tuesday.

According to Chernyshov, Ukrtransnafta will continue oil transit in line with the adopted decisions.

"If this continues [oil of sanctioned companies is absent], then we are ready to continue transit. I hope the volumes will remain the same in the future," said the head of Naftogaz.

As reported, after the decision of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions on the Russian company Lukoil, Hungary's Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó expressed strong opposition, stating that it threatens his country's energy security.
