The Kremenchug Regional Oncological Dispensary received charitable assistance from Ferrexpo Belanovo Mining (FBM, part of the Ferrexpo Group). This time the company donated to the medical institution a high-precision mammography machine manufactured by Siemens.

According to Yuriy Khimich, General Director of FBM, the cost of this equipment is about UAH 3.5 million. “This year, we have already donated more than UAH 12 million to hospitals in Kremenchuk, and we plan for another UAH 3 million in the near future. In total medical institutions of the Poltava region have already received medical equipment, medicines, personal protective equipment and other assistance in the amount of about UAH 50 million. The main part is aimed to help fight coronavirus but we are also contacted with other requests which we are trying to close immediately”, - he added.

“This is the most modern machine, one of the best in the world, which allows screening. It makes it possible to examine 5 patients per hour. The examination will be free of charge upon the referral of the family doctor. This mammography detects tumors in the preclinical period”, - said Tetiana Mamon, a radiologist at the Kremenchug Regional Oncological Dispensary.

The Kremenchug Regional Oncological Dispensary did not have such equipment before. The new mammograph can diagnose a tumor at the first stage, when its size has not reached 2 cm, which makes it possible to prescribe early treatment and recover more than 90% of women.
