Ukraine needs functional solutions to protect its cities – Umerov on use of American weapons against targets in Russia
If Ukraine is allowed to use U.S. and NATO weapons for strikes against military targets in the territory of Russia, this would help to protect Ukrainian people and civilian facilities, Defense Minister of Ukraine Rustem Umerov has said in an interview with Fox News in Washington.
Commenting on the allegations that such a permission could trigger an escalation of the situation, he said Russian has already escalated it.
"They strike the hospitals. They strike civilian places. We want to protect people. We want to strike military targets. That is why we want functional solutions to protect our cities. Because they are hitting our cities, they are hitting our critical national infrastructure, and they are killing people," Umerov said.
The minister once again emphasized that Ukraine needs more air defense capabilities and more weapons to defend its people.
