Ten Crimean Tatars detained in Crimea on charges of alleged terrorism – Lubinets
In temporarily occupied Crimea, Russian security forces conducted illegal searches in the houses of ten Crimean Tatars, they were detained, the occupiers charged them with the article "organizing the activities of a terrorist organization and participating in the activities of such an organization," Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets said.
"Today at dawn, Russian security forces broke into the houses of ten Crimean Tatars in Bakhchisaray and Dzhankoy district. Among them are religious figures and activists of the public association Crimean Solidarity," he said in a Telegram channel on Tuesday.
Lubinets said the occupiers conducted illegal searches in the houses of Rustem Osmanov, Aziz Azizov, Memet Lyumanov, Mustafa Abduramanov, Remzi Kurtnezirov, Vait Mustafaev, Ali Mamutov, Arsen Kashka, Enver Khalilayev, Nariman Ametov.
"Former imam Remzi Kurtnezirov is an elderly man with a second group disability. He has coronary heart disease, diabetes mellitus, and the right side of his body is non-functional. During the search, he became ill: his blood pressure rose greatly, he had to call an ambulance," the ombudsman said.
At the same time, Russian security forces still took Kurtnezirov and others to the so-called "Department of the FSB of Crimea" in Simferopol.
According to information received by the Ukrainian side from Crimean lawyers, all ten are preliminary charged with the article "organizing the activities of a terrorist organization and participating in the activities of such an organization."
"I emphasize that Russia once again brazenly disregards the norms of international humanitarian law. Illegal searches and detentions of civilians in temporarily occupied territory are a crime against humanity for national and international justice mechanisms. The real goal of the occupier is to destroy any manifestations of resistance and solidarity in Ukrainian Crimea," Lubinets said.
He said the international community must intensify efforts and increase pressure on Russia in order to stop its gross violations of human rights in Crimea, as well as the immediate and unconditional release of all illegally detained Ukrainian citizens.
