Hungary doesn’t intend to continue supplying weapons to Ukraine, but will provide humanitarian assistance – Szijjarto

Hungary does not intend to continue supplying weapons to Ukraine, but will help in the humanitarian sphere, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said.

"I have to tell you that in the future we will not supply weapons, as we have not supplied them before," Szijjarto said, answering a question from the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

At the same time, he stressed that Hungary has never refused Ukrainian citizens when it was asked for help, in particular, to persons temporarily displaced due to the war.

"And after that, too, we will not [refuse to help]. Hungary is ready to help every citizen of Ukraine in trouble, as it has done so far. That is, we continue the humanitarian direction. We will hope that this will last for a long time," said the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry.

Szijjarto also, in response to a question from the agency, said that at a meeting with the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Dmytro Kuleba and the head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak in Uzhgorod, he did not discuss the issue of cooperation with Ukraine under a security agreement following the example of other European countries.
