Yermak: Defensive war to lead to frozen conflict

Head of the President's Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak believes that a defensive war will lead to the freezing of the conflict.

"It is unrealistic to wage a defensive war. A transition to a defensive position often leads to a frozen conflict. We have seen this since 2014. We will never agree to a frozen conflict with Putin," he said in an interview with Le Figaro published on Saturday.

"The solution is not to stop, but to be realistic, to be strong, to stand with our partners and not to stop," he said.

Yermak called the lack of people and resources at the front "certainly a problem" that "makes no sense to hide."

"Some soldiers need rest. Many have been on the front line for two years already. The government and the General Staff are working on a new law on mobilization, which will soon be submitted to parliament. And on a realistic military strategy. The transition period is still ongoing," the head of the President's Office said.
