Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says that based on the results of the first month of the heating season, the situation in the energy sector is stable.

"We have passed the first month of the heating season. We have passed it successfully. The situation in the energy sector is stable. There is no shortage of electricity now. The heating season has started in all regions," Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Friday.

According to him, Ukraine has now fully provided itself with the necessary amount of energy resources, in particular, there are about 16 billion cubic meters of gas in storage facilities, and coal reserves in warehouses are 1.1 million tonnes.

"We continue to repair and protect key components of the energy system. We have already managed to restore about 1.9 GW of generating capacity. By the end of the year, it is planned to restore another 1.3 GW of additional capacity. Nuclear generation is working. Thermal generation is working, hydropower is working. A huge amount of restoration work has been done for grids, protection of substations and other critical equipment," the prime minister said.

Shmyhal noted that to date, 445 heat supply facilities have been restored.
