Ukraine needs equipment capable of automatically, , without human intervention, destroying enemy Shahed drones, which are becoming more numerous, since Russia has established its own production, Spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force Yuriy Ihnat has said.

"Of course, two Patriot batteries are very few for Ukraine. This is the system that allows you to shoot down ballistic missiles, Kinzhal missiles, which has already been proven for the first time in world history. Ukraine needs significantly more such systems. In addition to Patriot, we need SAMP/T in sufficient quantities," he said at a press briefing hosted by the Ukraine Media Center on Monday.

Ihnat recalled that Ukraine has one of the most modern IRIS-T systems, but in limited quantities. In addition, according to him, the NASAMS system performs well in the fight against air targets, but more of such systems are needed.

"Today, we need to focus our attention not only on the systems that I have mentioned, both for the Air Force and for the air defense of the Ground Forces, namely the British Terrahawk Paladin, let's call this complex. This is what is needed to destroy Shahed. There are more Shaheds, Russia has established production on its territory, and we need precisely such equipment that can automatically, without human intervention, destroy these targets with 100% results. This has already been demonstrated by the German Gepard, which is very good at destroying not only Shahed, but also missiles," Ihnat said.

According to him, such rational use of weapons, which the West provides to Ukraine, will make it possible to destroy Shahed drones, saving expensive missiles for higher priority purposes and protecting the country.
