Against the background of the decision of the Egyptian authorities to allow foreigners to leave the Gaza Strip through the Rafah checkpoint, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, other agencies involved, Ukrainian embassies in the region have begun the preparatory stage of the evacuation of Ukrainians, said spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleh Nikolenko.

"The list of those wishing to leave has been updated. Currently there are 358 of them. These are mainly women and children. Communication is maintained with everyone. An official request has been sent to the parties involved to issue permits to leave the Palestinian enclave and transit through Egyptian territory. We are waiting for approval," he wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

The Foreign Ministry also reported that documents were prepared for Ukrainians who do not have valid travel documents.

In addition, the necessary transport was booked and a group of diplomats was formed, which will arrive at the border with the Gaza Strip to help Ukrainian citizens on the spot.

"According to the Egyptian side, the departure of foreigners from the Gaza Strip will be carried out in alphabetical order, according to their citizenship. We are working to get our people out as soon as possible. The issue is under the personal control of Minister Dmytro Kuleba," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed.
