On Wednesday night, Russian troops shelled the area near the Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant (NPP), the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has reported.

As a result of an explosion, windows in the administrative and amenity and laboratory buildings have been damaged. Due to damage to power lines, 1,860 consumers were left without power in the cities of Slavuta and Netishyn, Khmelnytsky region. Restoration work will begin as soon as power engineers are allowed to the damage site.

The ministry also reported that two thermal generation units were taken out of repair a day later. On Tuesday, three more units of thermal power plants were also put out for emergency repairs, but by the end of the day they were again connected to the power grid.

"The electricity produced by Ukrainian power plants is quite sufficient to meet the needs of consumers," the press service said.

In turn, NPC Ukrenergo reported that due to hostilities and other reasons, 411 populated areas remain without electricity. In particular, rain and wind cut off power to 79 populated areas.

In addition, on Tuesday there was a shutdown of a 750 kV power transmission line in Vinnytsia region due to damage to its pillar by agricultural machinery. There were no consumer outages; emergency restoration work continues.

Earlier, First Deputy Head of the Khmelnytsky State Military Administration Serhiy Tiurin said that on Wednesday night the Russian invaders attacked Khmelnytsky region with attack drones, and as a result of breaking down the enemy air targets, they fell on the territory of a critical infrastructure facility.
