Iohannis: We want Romanian, Ukrainian minorities to have similar rights to language, education in it in both countries

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, at a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Bucharest, said Romania is interested in promoting a comprehensive order in favor of the citizens of both countries.

"Bilaterally, Romania is interested in promoting a comprehensive order for the benefit of the citizens of Romania and Ukraine. We strive for a constructive approach, a transparent approach, aimed at solutions, including on sensitive issues," he said.

Thus, according to Iohannis, he discussed with Zelenskyy in Bucharest during his visit the issue of ensuring the rights of persons belonging to national minorities in the two countries.

"There is a large Ukrainian community living in Romania, a large Romanian community living in Ukraine. And we want these two minorities, which are important for our countries, to have similar rights, especially here, I mean, of course, to the language they speak and for education in their native language," he said.
