The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemned the attack on Israel on the morning of Saturday, October 7.

"Ukraine strongly condemns the ongoing terrorist attacks against Israel, including rocket attacks against the civilian population in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. We express our support for Israel in its right to defend itself and its people," according to the report on Twitter.

The EU also declared solidarity with Israel in connection with the Hamas attack. "The EU expresses its solidarity with Israel in these difficult moments," EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrell wrote.

"We unequivocally condemn the attacks by Hamas. This horrific violence must stop immediately. Terrorism and violence solve nothing," he added.

As the Times of Israel reported, "Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip launched a rocket attack on southern and central Israel on Saturday morning." It also became known that dozens of Palestinian militants in trucks and paragliders entered from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory. Hamas subsequently claimed to have captured 35 Israeli citizens.

At the same time, the head of the military wing of Hamas, Mohammed Deif, said that the movement fired 5,000 rockets at Israel, marking the beginning of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.

In turn, the Israel Defense Forces announced the launch of Operation Iron Swords in connection with large-scale attacks by Hamas.

Israel Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari said that more than 2,200 rockets were fired at Israel, and Hamas militants infiltrated the country by land, air and sea.
