Shmyhal discusses with G7, EU ambassadors key issues of restoration, reform of Ukraine

On Tuesday, August 1, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with the ambassadors of the G7 countries and the European Union on key topics and reforms aimed at strengthening Ukraine.

"Recovery. We look forward to further assistance in implementing the priorities of fast recovery: the restoration of housing, energy, critical and social infrastructure, humanitarian demining and business support. Confiscation of frozen Russian assets. We have UAH 62 billion in the Ukrainian liquidation fund, half of them are seized Russian funds. We urge our partners to also take the necessary decisions that will direct Russia's assets frozen in the G7 countries to the restoration of Ukraine," Shmyhal wrote on the Telegram channel following the meeting.

The issue of preparation for the heating season was also discussed. Shmyhal pointed out that Ukraine continues to restore and strengthen the protection of energy facilities and thanked partners for significant assistance last winter.

In addition, the further fate of the grain initiative and the situation around the ZNPP were discussed.

"Grain Initiative. By withdrawing from the agreements, Russia has put millions of people in the world at risk of starvation. We count on the solidarity of our partners in the issue of exporting Ukrainian grain across the western border," Shmyhal stressed.

As for the ZNPP, the situation remains tense, the Prime Minister pointed out, and called on partners to continue pressure on the Russian Federation.

"ZNPP. The situation around the station remains tense. We must continue to put pressure on Russia to leave the facility. We call for sanctions against the nuclear industry of the Russian Federation," he stressed.

The Prime Minister also thanked the partners for supporting the Peace Formula of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and for their willingness to continue helping Ukraine until victory over the aggressor.
