Over 8,000 civilian deaths, 14,000 injured as result of Russian aggression in Ukraine documented – UN Mission on Human Rights

As of January 31, 2023, more than 8,000 civilians were killed and 14,000 people were injured as a result of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, according to a new report of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine on the general situation with human rights in Ukraine over the past six months.

At a press conference in Kyiv on Friday, Head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Matilda Bogner said the war resulted in colossal losses. According to her, as of this week, the Un documented that over 8,000 civilians have died and almost 14,000 have been injured. More than 90% were victims of missile attacks, due to explosive weapons or mines, she said. Bogner said the real figures are much higher.
