Some 500 collaborators detained during war, evidence of Russian aggression collected for intl authorities - National Police

During the six weeks of the Russian war in Ukraine, more than 5,000 criminal cases were opened on the facts of crimes by Russian military personnel, 500 collaborators were identified, special attention is paid to combating looting, Chief of the National Police of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko reports.

On his Facebook page on Thursday, he wrote that during the six weeks of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the police received more than 1.150 million messages from citizens.

"The investigation is carefully collecting the evidence base of war crimes of the Russian invaders in Ukraine. And not only for the Ukrainian courts, but also for the International Court of Justice. At present, more than 5,000 criminal proceedings have already been launched on the facts of crimes committed by Russian military personnel," the National Police chief stressed.

Also, according to him, police investigators are investigating 123 criminal proceedings in connection with collaboration activities. "Some 594 people suspected of collaborating with the enemy were detained," the head of the National Police said.

He assured that the police pay special attention to combating looting. "More than 1,600 property crimes have already been registered. No theft or robbery is left without our attention. Those who decide to profit from other people's property in such a difficult time will definitely be held accountable," Klymenko stressed.
