Evidence has been received of the use of phosphorus and thermobaric munitions by Russian invaders in the village of Mala Rohan near Kharkiv, Liudmyla Denisova, Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, has said.

"The occupiers used phosphorus and thermobaric munitions during the battles for Mala Rohan, near Kharkiv. Ukrainian servicemen have relevant evidence today – scorched land, destroyed buildings and captured enemy equipment," the Ombudswoman wrote on her Telegram channel on Tuesday.

In particular, according to her, the Russian military used TOS-1A Heavy Flamethrower System with shells for a rocket launcher – thermobaric and phosphorus ones.

"Due to the indiscriminate nature of the action of these types of weapons, they are prohibited from being used near settlements. According to military doctors, they managed to evacuate soldiers who were injured as a result of the use of these munitions. Many got burned, some suffered from the effects of white phosphorus vapor entering the respiratory tract" the Ombudswoman said.

Denisova stressed that, according to the testimony of the Ukrainian military, chemical munitions were used aiming at civilian targets, in particular, three phosphorus shells were fired at a dairy plant located near Mala Rohan.
