Under pretext of evacuation, occupier forcibly moves citizens of Ukraine from Donetsk region to Russia - PGO

The Prosecutor General's Office reports on the forced transfer of citizens of Ukraine from Donetsk region to the Russian Federation under pretext of evacuation, in connection with which criminal proceedings have been opened.

"Under the procedural guidance of Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office, a pretrial investigation is carried out in criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war (Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). According to the investigation, from the beginning of a full-scale military aggression, representatives of the occupying state, under the pretext of evacuation, carry out the forced transfer to the territory of the Russian Federation of Ukrainian citizens who find themselves in the territories of Donetsk region occupied by the enemy," the Prosecutor General's Office said in a message on the department's telegram channel on Friday.

The Prosecutor General's Office reported that such actions of the occupier are a violation of the provisions of Article 49, 55 of the Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 08/12/1949, Article 8 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.

"The pretrial investigation is carried out by the Main Directorate of the SBU in Donetsk and Luhansk regions," the report says.
