Zelensky calls on West to impose sanctions against Russian energy resources, ships, all Russian banks

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky considers it necessary for the West to impose sanctions on Russian energy resources, close ports for Russian ships and completely disconnect Russian banks from the SWIFT system.

"If we talk about sanctions, then first of all oil, petroleum products and gas. World ports should be closed to Russian ships. Freight companies should stop sending and receiving cargo from and to Russia. There should be no exceptions for Russian banks to disconnect from SWIFT," he said in an interview with the German newspaper Die Zeit, published on Thursday.

"If you don't do it now, then you will have to do even more later to save the Baltic countries, Moldova, Georgia and other countries that are Russia's neighbors from the Russian invasion. It is also very important that Western countries finally decide how to create a humanitarian no-fly zone over Ukraine," he said.
