Ukraine demands from the Russian occupiers who seized the Chornobyl nuclear power plant to immediately allow a repair team to eliminate damage and restore power supply to the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereschuk said.

"We demand to immediately allow a repair team to eliminate the damage and ask the world community to focus its attention on this problem," Vereschuk said at a briefing on Thursday.

She also stated the need to provide a "green corridor" necessary for the repair team and special equipment to eliminate damage on Donetsk-Mariupol gas pipeline.

"We demand that special equipment and a repair team be allowed to pass so that we can repair the gas pipeline and get people warm," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

According to her, more than a million people in Mariupol, Berdiansk and other cities were left without heat due to damage on the Donetsk-Mariupol gas pipeline.

As reported, due to the actions of Russian invaders, the Chornobyl nuclear power plant is completely de-energized.

"As a result of hostile actions of the Russian invaders, the Chornobyl nuclear power plant has been completely de-energized! The fighting continues, which makes it impossible to repair work and restore power supply," the system operator NPC Ukrenergo said on Wednesday.
