Prosecutor General: Important to create joint investigation team to investigate Russia's crimes

Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova emphasizes the importance of creating an international investigation team for the effective investigation into Russian crimes in Ukraine, which will include prosecutors from 39 countries that have already opened cases in connection with the Russian war in Ukraine.

"I spoke with almost all the prosecutors general. The prosecutors general of other countries professionally and humanly support us very much, which is why we see open proceedings," Venediktova said at a press conference for foreign and Ukrainian journalists in Lviv on Wednesday.

According to her, the reasons for opening cases by prosecutors of other countries are different, including the presence of migrants.

"Why is it important for us? Joint investigation teams. You remember our joint teams in the MH-17 case, where the case hearing is already completed in The Hague ordinary court. My goal now is to make the same joint investigation team, and I pray for it to have 39 countries that support us and opened cases," Venediktova said.

She stressed: "It seems to me that such a joint prosecutorial front will give a significant result."

"There was no analogue of such a war. We have a unique experience in a bad sense. It hurts me to talk about it, but international law does not work," the Prosecutor General summed up.
