Irpin mayor receives threats demanding to surrender city to occupiers

Mayor of Irpin, Kyiv region, Oleksandr Markushyn, reported on threats to his life received on Monday evening demanding to surrender the city to the occupying forces.

"Yesterday at 17:58 I received a message from the occupiers with threats to my life and health and the actual demand for the complete surrender of Irpin. I am surprised that these monsters still do not understand that Irpin does not surrender, Irpin is not for sale, Irpin is fighting!" Markushyn said on Telegram on Tuesday.

He illustrated the message with a screenshot of the ultimatum received from the Russian phone number with the following content: "Dear Alexander, you have the opportunity to save life and health, and maybe improve your financial situation. If you are interested in the offer, send '+' in a response message. The validity of the message is 24 hours." In response, Markushyn wrote "-".

"I am making a counter public offer to the occupiers – to leave the territory of Irpin community within 24 hours and save the lives and health of several thousand Russian conscript soldiers, whose mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, beloved are waiting at home. Return to Russia, and I will congratulate the women of Irpin community and without you," Markushyn said.
