Zaporizhia NPP remains under control of occupiers, 2 power units out of 6 operating – nuclear inspectorate

Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in Enerhodar, Zaporizhia region, is under the control of the military forces of the Russian Federation, according to the website of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine on Sunday morning.

"There are 2 power units of Zaporizhia NPP in the network. One unit is under repair, the others are stopped. The operating personnel of Zaporizhia NPP monitors the state of the power units and ensures their safe operation in accordance with the requirements of operational documentation," the inspectorate said.

The automated radiation monitoring system of the NPP and the automated system for monitoring the radiation condition in the sanitary protection zone and the observation zone operate in the normal mode, no changes in the radiation state at the NPP site, the sanitary protection area were recorded.

At the same time, the inspectorate said that the presence of armed occupiers and heavy equipment on the territory of the nuclear power plant near the plant exerts psychological pressure on both the nuclear power plant personnel and the population. "In the city [Enerhodar], there are interruptions in mobile communication, most Internet providers do not work, there are difficulties with food. All this negatively affects the morale of the staff and significantly affects the nuclear and radiation safety of nuclear power plants," the inspectorate said.
