Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk has discussed with President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola and the heads of parliaments of the member states of the European Union further steps to counter Russian aggression, including support for Ukraine's immediate membership in the EU, the need to expand sanctions against the Russian Federation and increase funding for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"During a conversation with the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola and the heads of parliaments of the EU member states, I focused on the steps that should be taken to counter Russian aggression. This is a continuation of sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation. The circle of Russian banks disconnected from SWIFT must be expanded. We expect a refusal of European partners from Russian raw materials. Increased funding for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which today guard not only Ukraine, but the entire civilized world. Support for the urgent membership of Ukraine in the EU," Stefanchuk wrote on his Facebook page.

The Speaker also raised questions regarding a "no-fly" zone regime over Ukraine, providing residents with food and medicine, and arranging "green corridors" for the evacuation of the population.

"In addition, I asked for a complete cessation of any contacts with Russian deputies through parliaments. The permanent delegations of the Russian Federation in the parliamentary assemblies of various international organizations should be completely isolated until the aggression stops," Stefanchuk said.
