1 min read

Disconnection of Russian banks from SWIFT should happen in the near future, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.

"We demand increased pressure and isolation until Putin stops his war against Ukraine, stops the fighting, withdraws his troops, pays for what he has done. Until he does this, we will continue to work on the fact that Russia has the burning ground under its feet all over the world. Now we are squeezing the maximum amount of SWIFT shutdown application. I have already informed that the fundamental decision has been made, there are some details left, and we are currently working on them. Disconnection of Russian banks from SWIFT should happen in the near future," Kuleba said at an online briefing on Tuesday.

The minister also added that Ukraine is demanding a complete embargo on trade in "bloody Russian oil and gas."

"The first decisions in this direction have already been made by Canada, and this wave will continue to grow," Kuleba said.
