Poroshenko, Erdogan to hold meeting of strategic council in Istanbul on Nov 3

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will pay an official visit to Turkey on November 3-4, during which he will take part as a co-chairman at a meeting of the high-level strategic council, the presidential press service has reported.

"The 7th meeting of the high-level strategic council will be held in Istanbul on November 3 under the chairmanship of the presidents of Ukraine and Turkey. The agenda of the event involves discussion of key issues of bilateral political dialogue, the current state and prospects for the development of Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation in trade and economic, scientific technical, military-industrial, energy, transport, cultural, humanitarian, educational and tourist spheres," the message reads.

Poroshenko will hold separate talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

It is planned that the head of the Ukrainian state will open a memorial plaque on the former building of the UNR diplomatic mission (1919-1922), visit Istanbul University, where there is a department of the Ukrainian language and literature, and open an exhibition of archival documents dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian-Turkish diplomatic relations.

As part of his visit to Turkey, Poroshenko will also visit Antalya, where he will participate in the inauguration ceremony of the Ukrainian Consulate in Antalya and the Ukrainian House culture center.
