U.S. Senate approves Pentagon's draft budget for 2019 increasing aid to Ukraine at $250 mln

The United States Senate has approved the Pentagon's draft budget for 2019, which increases assistance to Ukraine at $250 million, the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States has said.

"The U.S. Senate has approved the draft of "Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2019," previously agreed with the House of Representatives, which provides $250 million to help Ukraine," the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States said on Facebook on Tuesday.

This defense budget exceeds the budget of 2018, which is $50 million more for the corresponding support programs of the Ukrainian state.

"Some $250 million are allocated in the bill, including for military exercises, the provision of military equipment, lethal weapons and logistics support, the replacement of previously provided weapons or military goods. The list of types of assistance also includes intelligence support for the Ukrainian armed forces," the Ukrainian Embassy said.

The House of Representatives is to vote for the "Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2019" to come into force. Then it will be submitted to the president's signature.
