The Ukroboronprom State Concern and Poland's WZM, part of PGZ defense concern, are preparing a project on joint modernization of the Ukrainian Mongoose combat reconnaissance vehicle in the interests of the Polish Armed Forces.

The press service of the state concern reported last week that the cooperation plans for the project are outlined in a memorandum signed by the state-owned enterprise (SOE) Promoboronexport, part of Ukroboronprom, and WZM at the 26th International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO 2018 held in Kielce (Poland) on September 4 through September 7.

According to the report, in the near future the partners plan to complete the work on the prototype of the modernized armored vehicle: the presentation of armored vehicles to the Polish military customer at one of the military training grounds in Poland is scheduled for September.

According to the results of the modernization of the Mongoose combat vehicle for the Polish Armed Forces, it is planned to conclude a contract for the work on the project, the press service said. Details of the upcoming modernization are not specified.

Mongoose combat reconnaissance vehicle is a modernized version of the armored reconnaissance patrol vehicle BRDM-2, designed the Mykolaiv Armor Plant, which is part of the Ukroboronprom.
