Military prosecutor's office refutes reports of arrest of suspects in murder of serviceman in Lozova

There are no suspects and detainees yet in the case on the murder of Kostiantyn Kazakov, a 23-year-old fighter of the Donbas-Ukraine battalion, deputy military prosecutor of the Kharkiv garrison Vladyslav Zubko has said.

"There are currently no detainees or suspects. Investigative actions are being carried out," Zubko told an Interfax-Ukraine reporter on Tuesday, July 31.

He confirmed that Kazakov disappeared a few days before his body was found in a sewage collector near a military unit in Lozova.

Zubko also said it was currently impossible to say definitely what caused the death of the soldier.

"At the moment, it's impossible to say whether this was a violent death. There was suppuration on the body and it's impossible to say unambiguously [what caused the death]. This should be established by examination," he said.

As reported, the body of a serviceman was found in a sewage collector in the town of Lozova in Kharkiv region. The police started an investigation under Part 1 of Article 115 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The commander of the Donbas-Ukraine battalion, Viacheslav Vlasenko, said on his Facebook page on July 31 that the perpetrators of the death of the fighter had been found.

"The killers were found in one day and arrested. The monsters who brutally killed Kostiantyn Kazakov will be severely and fairly punished," he wrote.
