Canada ready to host next Ukraine reform conference - Groysman

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and Canadian Minister of International Development Marie-Claude Bibeau have discussed Canada's assistance in repelling Russia's aggression against Ukraine and supporting domestic Ukrainian reforms.

"Canada occupies a special place for Ukraine. We are linked by a long history and warm friendship. In such a difficult time for Ukraine we feel Canada's firm support in restoring territorial integrity and repelling Russia's aggression. This was stated during a meeting with Canada's Minister for International Development and La Francophonie Marie-Claude Bibeau," Groysman wrote on his Facebook page.

The prime minister also noted the importance of Canada's support for domestic reforms in Ukraine. After all, starting in 2014, Canada announced the implementation of more than 60 projects worth over 400 million Canadian dollars.

"Thank you for your readiness to host the next international conference on reforms in Ukraine," Groysman wrote.

As reported, Bibeau is on a visit to Ukraine from July 18 to 23. It is her first visit to the country. During her visit, Bibeau will meet with several Ukrainian ministers to discuss the Ukrainian government's reform agenda, including its strategy for reaching the Sustainable Development Goals.

Minister Bibeau will also visit development projects supported by Canada and meet with government officials, women's organizations and other key stakeholders involved in various kinds of reform, including the advancement of gender equality and women's rights and the financial inclusion of the most vulnerable and marginalized.
