Russian hybrid forces mount 55 attacks on Ukraine troops in Donbas in past day with 3 servicemen reported injured

Over the past day, Russia-led hybrid forces have opened fire 55 times on the positions of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO), using heavy weapons 15 times, as a result of which three soldiers were slightly injured, the operation's press center has reported.

"Over the past day, on May 10, the situation in the Joint Forces Operation area remained consistently complex. (...) Russian-led forces, in violation of international agreements, mounted 55 attacks on Ukrainian troops in Donbas in the past day, using heavy weapons 15 times, including 152mm guns. Units of the JFO provided an adequate response and conducted an active defense," the press center of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation said in an update on Facebook as of May 11, 2018.

According to the press center, shelling continued mainly in the Donetsk sector, in particular, near the town of Avdiyivka, and the villages of Zaitseve, Novozvanivka, Vodiane and Pisky, and Butovka coal mine. The situation was also tense near the town of Popasna in the Luhansk sector and the village of Shyrokyne in the Mariupol sector.

Hostilities were most active near the Avdiyivka industrial zone. According to reconnaissance reports, the enemy sustained losses during an attempt to assault our positions: "Two invaders were killed, while three others were wounded," the message reads.

Three Ukrainian defenders received minor shrapnel wounds. They are provided with qualified medical assistance in the hospital.

As reported, there were no Ukrainian military casualties over the past day as of the May 11 update. "At night, the Russian-led forces opened fire from small arms alone, abstaining from active actions," the JFO said.
