Klitschko: Kyiv authorities completing calculations for raising fare in public transport

Kyiv authorities are completing calculations for increasing fares in public transport, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has reported.

"We are now completing the process of calculations. Experts will calculate how much we need to increase the cost of transportation. Our task is to ensure that the transport infrastructure, on which the city's livelihoods depend, continue its functioning," he told NewsOne TV Channel.

It is noted that the delay in the process of raising tariffs leads to the fact that the city authorities cannot dynamically update the transport fleet, which, as a result, can lead to disruptions in the work of the city public transport.

At the same time, Klitschko said privileges for certain categories of the population will be preserved.

"Free travel will remain for pensioners, schoolchildren, ATO veterans, large families. Socially vulnerable groups will be definitely protected," he stressed.

According to the mayor, the main task the city authorities must solve today is to bring the municipal public transport enterprise to break-even level of work.
