Construction ministry introduces mandatory energy efficiency requirements for educational institutions

The Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Ministry will soon approve the construction requirements for energy efficiency for schools and kindergartens, Deputy Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Minister Lev Partskhaladze has said.

"Unfortunately, in many of our schools and kindergartens, the windows are still sealed with foam rubber for winter, and children are forced to sit in their outer clothing in classrooms, which often make them sick and they have to miss lessons. According to the new national construction requirements, all planning and technological solutions should ensure the optimal level of energy consumption during construction and operation of [educational institutions]," Partskhaladze wrote on his Facebook page.

According to him, the national construction requirements oblige the heat supply systems to be equipped with automatic regulation devices, and the enclosing structures should be designed with thermal protection properties that ensure the specific consumption of the heat.
