MP Friz asks Prosecutor General, SBU chief to take situation with Whisper ship under personal control

Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense Iryna Friz (Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction) asks law enforcement officials not to release the detained vessel Whisper until all procedures for its inspection are completed.

"Returning to the topic of the detention of Whisper, which was coming from Ochamchira (the Russian Navy base in occupied Abkhazia) allegedly to Varna, and was detained by the Ukrainian Navy and the State Border Service. Yesterday I pointed to the well-founded suspicions of the presence of a prohibited cargo on board of this ship, which should have been unloaded in the sea and sent to Odesa. Today, these suspicions were more justified: the military propaganda channel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation 'Zvezda' (Star) spoke of Whisper's "all is lost" attitude towards Whisper," Friz wrote on her Facebook page, commenting on the detention of a foreign ship with trafficking in the Black Sea.

The deputy noted that she officially appealed to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and the head of the SBU to take the situation under personal control and prevent the Whisper ship from being released before the completion of the inspection procedures by all Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. "The documented appeal in accordance with the regulations of the Verkhovna Rada will be sent today," Friz said.

Earlier, the parliamentarian drew attention to the fact that due to constant violations of the maritime law by the Russian side in the ports of Crimea, the Whisper incident can not be settled without a detailed investigation and litigation.
