Volker to give Russia letters from families of hostages

U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker will hand over letters from the families of hostages to Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov, at the request of the Ukrainian side, Ukraine's representative in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group, First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko has said.

"Today, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker meets with Putin's adviser Surkov. He, at the request of the Ukrainian side, will give the Russian Federation letters from the families of hostages with the demand for their immediate release. The issues of security and hostages are our key priorities," she wrote on her Facebook page on Monday.

As reported, Volker and Surkov, at a meeting in Belgrade on November 13, will discuss all most important issues of the settlement in the southeast of Ukraine, including those related to a peacekeeping force in Donbas.
