MP Chubarov hopes Rada to adopt law on indigenous peoples of Ukraine this year
Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, President of the World Crimean Tatar Congress, MP Refat Chubarov has said he hopes that the Verkhovna Rada will pass a law on indigenous peoples of Ukraine this year.
"A decade was necessary for a working group, that includes representatives of indigenous peoples, to reach mutual understanding [...] The bill, prepared by the working group and already finished by experts as far as possible, will further be the problem of the deputy corps. It will be considered at this session, which will be opened in September," Chubarov said during a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.
According to the MP, the rights of indigenous peoples, including Crimean Tatars, Karaites and inhabitants of Crimea, should be realized.
"I would very much like that the law on the indigenous peoples of Ukraine would be adopted this year in Ukraine, and so, we would take another step towards strengthening of internal system in Ukraine, and most importantly - the launch of a more effective mechanism for restoration of Ukrainian sovereignty over the Crimean peninsula," Chubarov said.
