The Ukrainian Opposition Bloc party objects to the authorities' legal initiatives aimed at restricting the rights of Donbas residents, including through a martial law mechanism, Serhiy Liovochkin of the Opposition Bloc said in commenting on legislation on 'Donbas reintegration' proposed by the Ukrainian authorities.

"The Opposition Bloc supports all actions leading to de-escalation and settlement of the conflict and reintegration of Donbas. At the same time, they should be agreed upon in the Normandy format and certainly must not be provocative in nature," Liovochkin said.

The Opposition Bloc party will support any initiatives aimed at improving the lives and security of the people living and staying in the conflict zone, Liovochkin said. "But we are categorically against the authorities' lawmaking activity aimed at restricting the people's rights in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, primarily the constitutional rights of the regions' residents and refugees, the right to participate in elections through a martial law mechanism," Liovochkin said.
