Investigation involving Katsuba almost complete, 'compelling' evidence uncovered

Investigators are finishing up work on their investigation of a deal involving former deputy head of the National Joint-Stock Company Naftogaz Ukraine Oleksandr Katsuba, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko has said.

"Yesterday work was completed with Katsuba, who appealed to me in writing offering to give evidence against those responsible for UAH 500 million in losses to the state due to the operations of the Ukraine 2020 enterprise, as well as oil-drilling rigs deployed in the Black Sea. The evidence is very compelling. We will wait until the court reviews the plea bargain agreement and it enters into force, before giving details," Lutsenko said on Wednesday during a briefing in Kyiv.

Lutsenko said that as of February 14, Katsuba paid the remaining UAH 100 million of compensation to the state.

"This is the basis for the court to review the deal under which he will be found guilty and pretrial confinement will be determined," Lutsenko said.
