Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine and Secretary of the National Reform Council Dmytro Shymkiv has discussed cooperation in supporting reforms in Ukraine with Ambassador Vaidotas Verba, Project Coordinator in Ukraine for the Organization for Security and Cooperation (OSCE).

The presidential administration's press service on Wednesday said during the meeting the results of two years of cooperation and joint work in the framework of several projects supporting dialogue, which aimed to facilitate the activity of the National Reform Council, as well as a project office, was discussed.

"Shymkiv noted the importance of OSCE's contribution to several improvements, which were introduced in the work sessions of the national council. Among them were the development and transferring of software for a number of projects, the supply of 60 tablet computers for use by members of the national council during meetings," the statement said.

Verba noted the necessity of further support of communication initiatives aimed at raising public awareness and attracting Ukrainian citizens to the process of reforms.

"Tracking results of how the reforms are perceived by the populations show some favorable trends in public awareness about several reforms, including public tenders, educational and judicial reforms," the statement said.

"To date, 74% of decisions taken by the council have been implemented. I hope that thanks to the automation and optimization of preparation of materials we will be able to reach 90%," Shymkiv said.

"The success of changes in large measure depends on whether people know, understand and support what is happening. This is the reason we are trying to facilitate bolstering the opportunities of reformers, to present their programs and plans for broad public discussion," Verba said.
