Journalist Sheremet to be buried in Minsk on Saturday

Journalist Pavel Sheremet, who was killed in Kyiv on Wednesday, will be buried in Minsk on Saturday, Svetlana Kalinkina, a Belarusian journalist and Sheremet's friend, said in Minsk on Thursday.

"Here is information on the funeral from Pavel's mother. There will be a farewell ceremony in Kyiv tomorrow. In the evening, Pasha will be flown to Minsk, to the All Saints Church. The funeral is on Saturday," Kalinkina said on Facebook.

It was reported earlier that Sheremet died as a car he was driving was blown up in central Kyiv at 07:45 a.m. on Wednesday, when the journalist was on his way to work. Media reported that the car belonged to Olena Prytula, a co-founder and head of the Ukrainska Pravda online publication, but she was not in the car at the moment of the incident.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko suggested that Sheremet's killers could have sought to destabilize the situation in the country.
