Donbas militants shell Popasna, local resident injured

A local resident, aged 61, was injured and two residential buildings were damaged in shelling of the town of Popasna in Luhansk region, spokesperson for the Main Department of the National Police for Luhansk region Tetiana Pohukay has said.

The enemy shelled Popasna from grenade launchers twice from the direction of the town of Pervomaysk [in the territory of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic, "LPR"] at night-time on July 18, she said. "A house on Berestova Lane in Popasna was damaged and its owner, aged 61, was injured in shelling," Pohukay said on Facebook.

The man was admitted to a hospital with a shell fragment wound to the anterior abdomen wall and a penetrating wound to the abdomen, she said.

Furthermore, Pohukay said that the roof of a house on Pushkin Street in Popasna was damaged; the owners were hiding in the basement.

These facts are qualified as an act of terror (Article 258) under the Criminal Code of Ukraine, she said.
