Russia rejects missile defense cooperation with U.S., turns down every U.S. proposal

Russia has turned down every U.S. proposal concerning missile defense and refused to cooperate in that area, U.S. Ambassador in Moscow John Tefft said.

"The United States and NATO have repeatedly offered Russia to cooperate in the field of missile defense, in particular, to create two Russia-NATO centers, in addition to plans for creating a transparency regime between the sides. Russia rejected every proposal that could help develop cooperation and transparency," Tefft said on Tuesday, answering questions from users of the Vkontakte social network.

"It was the Russian side that unilaterally severed the partner dialogue in 2013," he said.
