Found Yanukovych's archives to help return him to Interpol red list – interior minister
Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov has said that archives of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych found by Ukrainian law enforcers would help to return him to the Interpol red list.
Avakov said in an interview with Dzerkalo Tyzhnia weekly published on Saturday said that this is not the archive that was found by activists last year in the office of the Yanukovych's lawyer in Kyiv.
"This is another archive. Personal documents of Yanukovych, originals of Tantalit and Mako's documents, technical dossiers and key documents for the Mezhyhirya facilities, a lot of financial agreements, stamps and transaction accounts with international companies – from Hong Kong to Switzerland. These documents allow stirring up the work of the State Service for Financial Monitoring and investigators, including international ones," he said.
The minister said that the raid to seize the archive of the ex-president was carried out at night on December 16 before the cabinet meeting.
"A private apartment worked as a financial and operating center. The documents were in safe boxes. It is likely that this was one of the centers the 'Family' used to transferring resources. 'Family' banks are linked with the center. The documents that were found have never been seen earlier," Avakov said.
Asked if the documents can help returning Yamukovych to the Interpol red list, he said that it is possible, but Interpol requires clear evidences.
He also confirmed that the Interior Ministry has transferred the documents to the Prosecutor General's Office.
